Located in Durham Region between Ajax and Oshawa, the Town of Whitby  has a population of approximately 111,000 people. The southern portion of Whitby is an economic hub and is predominantly urban, while northern Whitby is considered more rural and consists of four main communities.

Whitby  -much like many other cities and towns in the GTA- is rapidly expanding. In fact, from 2001 to 2006 Whitby had a population growth of over 27%, strengthening its reputation as a very desirable place to live.

Over 470 businesses are located in downtown Whitby which offers everything from financial and medical services to fashion and antiques.
